Writing, Art, and Flow
Discovering a different route on my creative journey
Dear readers
Hello and welcome to,
✨A newsletter on Creative thinking & living. A safe space to embrace the power of Creativity✨
Only recently had I begun settling into my creative identity as a writer, when I stumbled upon another side of me as an illustrator which I never knew was waiting to show up. Of course, as an architect I’ve been trained to draw and sketch, always keeping scale, proportion, and perspective in mind. But this felt different. I had stepped into a whole new zone, one I hadn’t anticipated at all where it completely blew me away with the versatility and freedom it brought to my work.
I’ve always had a thing for prints and patterns. They give me a special kind of high! I’ve long wanted to weave them into my creations, not in a way that makes them the star of the show, but as an inseparable detail in the background, adding that unique touch to the final piece.
That’s how I began my digital art series which celebrates divine figures in bright hues. Their garments are filled with stitch-like patterns and designs, almost like adornments, because I wanted them to feel relatable, dressed in attire closer to what we wear, rather than the overly “Godly” depictions we usually see in Indian calendars.
While I’m still building on the series, I’ve realized how much I love illustrating the Divine while listening to devotional songs. It has become my way of meditating — the music creates a soothing atmosphere, and I lose myself in the flow of drawing. It often feels as if the Gods are right there with me, singing along, while each artwork slowly takes shape on its own. I never fully plan the outcome, but somehow, the pieces always turn out magical, like a blessing.
In the video below, I share how this little project helped me slip into a state of creative flow. I’ve been spending a few dedicated hours each day on it, without stressing about the final outcome which has made all the difference.
Since I primarily see myself as a writer, I never wanted these to be just standalone illustrations.
For me, art is always about blending different creative skills, so that in the end, what I create isn’t just a picture, but a reflection of who I am and the kind of work I would love to see as someone who deeply appreciates creativity.
So, here is a sneak-peek into the the series, just for my Substack community whom I see as an extended family, you are the ones who’ve helped me stay afloat during times when my creativity felt low.
Soon, I will be launching the full series, along with one big reveal. There is a lot going on behind-the-scenes and I am very excited about it. Stay tuned, as I will soon be making announcements for the launch.

Till the next post —
