Recommendations of 10 things I read, heard & admired
Welcome to The curated digest.
I send this bi-weekly digest to include recommendations of things I read, heard & admired.
Some mid-week words of motivation —
There are some conversations which strike a chord; where you end up talking as old friends even when it is the first interaction. I had a similar interaction/conversation with
recently, wherein the discussion was meant to be related to a workshop query, but ended up being a soulful one. His journey resonated with me as we have two things in common - writing and creativity. I even sent him my book as a souvenir, as I think creativity grows in sharing ! If you wish to read authentic, personal accounts from someone whose work intersects across writing, photography, bike riding in the Himalayas and living in the mountains, check out his blog titled ‘Creative writing laboratory ’.I love a clean desk, it just charges me for the work ahead. For my home desk, I have a fairly simple setup where I use this amazing Turf Desk Mat Trio Bundle by Daily objects. Its versatile, easy to clean and looks very chic.

As a ritual, I visited one more bookstore which is located around my workplace (yes, my workplace has some really fancy outlets around it). This one is tucked in a basement of a residential plot, has practically no signages, but is a very cozy and quiet space. It has a very limited collection of curated books, but the USP is it’s wall murals which bring cheerful vibes to the place. And guess what? The artist - Kanika Kush is a friend. Visit this small yet cozy bookstore, in case you are around. They rent the space for small bookish events as well.

I just started reading — The body: A guide for occupants by Bill Bryson. This book was part of Ankur Warikoo’s Weekly newsletter recommendation. The reason I picked it as it talks about human body and its composition - a subject I am deeply intrigued with currently, thus I thought would make sense to check it out. I am not very far into this book, but I think I will take time to read it, as it’s data dense and full of facts.

An excerpt from the book —
I started watching Adolescence, and I would admit I kind of freaked out in the first episode. Not because of the nature of content, but because I am a parent to an adolescent and I cannot even imagine something which the show portrays; it was enough to send chills down my spine. As parents, we need to build deeper bonds with our children so that they do not fall prey to technology/social media and indulge in any crime whatsoever. A must watch show for every parent with an adolescent. To get a glimpse of the Netfilx drama series, watch the trailer below:
I document nature extensively, and thus I started an Instagram account solely for nature photography to keep all my photographs at one place. If you wish to see unfiltered photographs of nature, you can follow my handle - the petal chronicles HERE. Here are some recent shots from my gallery:
Albert Einstein in a letter to his friend Adriana Enriques in 1921 wrote:
The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives
This Russian song by Jony has been on repeat in my playlist. Just love the trance like beats with the soothing music.
Pattern Love — I am a sucker for patterns of all shapes, sizes and textures. This picture was clicked from a visit to an old Haveli which lies on the banks of the holy Ganges river. The symmetry, the arches, the rustic feel added so many layers to this corridor.
In case you missed it:
I have relaunched my newsletter, where the vibe is about creativity as a life skill, art of writing and why we do what we do i.e. human behavior. If still curious, what’s all the creativity drama all about — Read my posts related to the topic below:

Thank you so much for this beautiful surprise Parul. It was really lovely to connect with you. Also, thanks once again for sharing your book with me. I have not forayed into poems as much so I am very excited to read your book of poems. Hope you're well.
Sending love and hugs from the mountains.
